As with many lovely stories this one begins with a chance meeting. The clients approached me after having seen a watercolour of Rome that I completed in 2020 (also now in their possession). Initially the clients contacted me from Singapore. In late July 2021 we made arrangements to meet at Santacristina in Gubbio. I spent a complete day walking around the property making preliminary sketches. The clients were terrific hosts, so we spent two days getting to know each other and talking through the background to their hopes and expectations for the project. Once the work was complete I delivered the work to them. The property is quite remote so this guaranteed that the pictures arrived safely. All travel costs were met by the clients.
An Umbrian dream
The Umbrian dream from the side elevation.
A glorious mixture of fruit trees and Umbrian stone.
Ever changing colours that move with the light.
View from Loggia (watercolour)
A richer perspective inspired by the strength of the colours and painted in oils.
Voices and laughter still echo within their decaying walls.
A much loved piece from a glorious collection.
Look closely to enjoy the skill of the casting.
