I have an odd relationship with my watch. It is a beautiful thing with a lovely face that, in the summer, has no idea what the time is. It gains, it sleeps, it stops and starts. I wear it to remind me that time does not stand still; however in its case it says “you have no control, give up.”
The garden at Villa Pisani is a little like that, plants and statues march imperceptibly towards winter. The colours change constantly, just like time and my watch. Deep in this picture is a peacock buried in my lines, not lost, just sleeping, like my watch when it fails to move forward.
