Evelyna came to the Doges farm at a time when it had been left to rot for many years. The barns were piled high with hay, and it’s glorious frescos where weeping tears of plaster and mould. Evelyna loved her husband, the last Duke Pisani, but she loved her garden more. She filled the ground with life. Some plants survived and others died, but still she carried on. Now lemons grow on manicured borders and roses climb towards the sun.
