Olive Tree Sketch

Olive Tree Sketch

The circadas have returned as has the hot June wind. For a moment I thought there would be thunder but then there was nothing. I am learning to be Italian in my habits. Rising at 5 to garden and then to paint.

The meadow has felt as if it was on another planet, steps covered with creepers and leaves being little encouragement to venture down. However today was a day for the olive trees. This is a small sketch in oils, 25 cm square. I’m uncertain about how complete it is. The wait for drying paint is a curse, just like the humidity. 2 days left of teaching then the work can start in earnest. All that is needed now is a dealer brave enough to take me on.
