Circadas seem to get louder before there is a storm. The air becomes thick and sticky, black clouds gather and then disappear. Grasshoppers leap through the air and lazy cats lie waiting for them to fall to the ground to be eaten. I have seen none of this as I crawl, pallet knife in hand, across the canvas. Each stroke has been made with uncertainty. There is no knowledge, just exploration of an idea.
