These are some of the sketches I made during the 100 days project in 2019. They are a reflection of a journey that took me from Italy to the Orkneys; from an old life to a new one.
Timeless elegance captured in line and wash.
The Lido is home to many glorious gothic mansions. I was particularly taken with this fine example.
The colours of summer merge beautifully in this light sketch
This skilfully executed sketch became the working drawing for my architectural study in oIls.
This familiar study became the basis of Linda Winter Artists work in oils of the same subject.
One of a number of drawings made by Linda Winter Artist during a last stay in Cornwall Summer 2019
Cothele is on the edge of a sweeping meander in the river Tamar. Deep in an ancient reed bed, this cottage holds many memories.
This drawing is one of a pair. It shows how versatile Ink and watercolour wash can be.
This drawing is one of a pair drawn in the garden of an old friend.
Watercolour pencil brings an immediacy to Urban sketches. This drawing comes alive with the washes of colour.
I find line drawing has a wonderful sense of immediacy when drawing buildings.
Spectacular skies in the Colli
Autumn storms bring an intensity to the colours in the Italian Landscape. This painting shows one of the quarries that were worked from Roman times to the mid 1970's.
Travelling with a sketchbook gave rise to many images that captured the sense of the place so much more than photographs. This was day 77 of the 100 days project.
Towards the middle of my epic jaunt from Padova to Orkney I took a pitstop in Edinburgh.
Known by anyone who has visited the island. The sketch is a view from the harbour road.
Muted colours from the seaweed and crystal cold waters make this view both dramatic and interesting.
